Alignment kits are necessary when lifting or lowering vehicles because changes in the height of a vehicle can affect the alignment of its wheels. If a vehicle is lowered or lifted beyond a certain point, factory alignment specifications will not be achievable which can negatively effect handling. Once a vehicle is lowered, wheel camber may become excessively negative, meaning the top of the tire is angled inward (toward the center of the vehicle).
