ACL performance engine bearings are trimetal bearings designed to withstand higher RPM conditions for many of the popular 4, 6, and 8 cylinder engine applications. They feature a high strength overlay plate that has a reduced thickness with helps prevent fatigue. The hardened steel backs on the rod bearings help assist with bearing retention in the housing and support the bearing lining. The bearings have increased crush which improves bearing retention as well as tight consistent wall tolerances to maintain a consistent clearance. The flash plating on the back of the bearings was removed to increase the grip between the housing and bearing and improve heat transfer through the bearings. The eccentricity was increased to help with bore distortion at high rpm and help create hydrodynamic oil films. The main bearings are ¾ grooved to optimize oil flow to the connecting rod bearings and the bearing load carrying surface. ID chamfers on the bearing edge were enlarged when required to help fit large fillet radius on performance crankshafts.
